John Wesley, Anglican priest in the 18th centry. Lead a huge revival in the UK, about the same time as the French Revolution. His approach centered around belivers meeting together for Bible study, prayer and acountability. They became known as the Methodists, cause they followed this simple Method.
So many people came to the faith that the Anglican church couldn't keep up, and they had to start seprate 'Methodists Churches'. About a hundred years later William Booth, who was a Methodist, started a mission in east London ...

the wesleys also wrote some pretty cool hymns, including: "oh, for a thousand tongues to sing", "Christ, the Lord, is risen today" and "hark! the herald angels sing". the whole family was crazy about God and right about theology . . . well, at least i think they were right.
